Liquid-gas phase transition to first order of an argon-like fluid modeled by the hard-core similar Sutherland potential

چکیده
In this paper, an argon-like canonical system is studied. We introduce five hypothesis to deal with the total potential of the system. Then the balanced liquid-gas coexistence phenomenon is analyzed. Good equations of state and phase diagram are given. PACS Codes: 05.20.Jj; 05.70.-a; 05.70.Ce; 05.70.Fh.

Analytic Equation of State for the Square-well Plus Sutherland Fluid from Perturbation Theory
Analytic expressions were derived for the compressibility factor and residual internal energy of the square-well plus Sutherland fluid. In this derivation, we used the second order Barker-Henderson perturbation theory based on the macroscopic compressibility approximation together with an analytical expression for radial distribution function of the reference hard sphere fluid. These properties...
متن کاملLiquid-gas phase behaviour of an argon-like fluid modelled by the hard-core two-Yukawa potential
We study a model for an argon-like fluid parameterised in terms of a hard-core repulsion and a two-Yukawa potential. The liquid-gas phase behaviour of the model is obtained from the thermodynamically self-consistent Ornstein-Zernike approximation (SCOZA) of Høye and Stell, the solution of which lends itself particularly well to a pair potential of this form. The predictions for the critical poi...
متن کاملMetastable liquid-liquid phase transition in a single-component system with only one crystal phase and no density anomaly.
We investigate the phase behavior of a single-component system in three dimensions with spherically-symmetric, pairwise-additive, soft-core interactions with an attractive well at a long distance, a repulsive soft-core shoulder at an intermediate distance, and a hard-core repulsion at a short distance, similar to potentials used to describe liquid systems such as colloids, protein solutions, or...
متن کاملPhase behavior of the hard-sphere Maier-Saupe fluid under spatial confinement.
The Maier-Saupe hard-sphere fluid is one of the simplest models that accounts for the isotropic-nematic transition characteristic of liquid crystal phases. At low temperatures the model is known to present a gas-liquid-like transition with a large difference between the densities of the coexistence phases, whereas at higher temperature the transition becomes a weak first-order transition resemb...
متن کاملApplying a Modified Two-Fluid Model to Numerical Simulation of Two-Phase Flow in the Membrane Chlor-Alkali Cells
In this study, gas evolution in a vertical electrochemical cell is investigated numerically with a modified two-fluid model. The mathematical model involves solution of separate transport equation for the gas and liquid phases with an allowance to inter-phase transfer of mass and momentum. The governing equations are discreted via the finite volume technique and then are solved by ...
